Rule #1 of being a parent: Never let anyone tell your kid how you were as a kid. You’ll never live it down!

Not living it down is perfectly acceptable. It’s only a problem if the parenting relies on an artificial image of perfection/infallibility, rather than respect for increased (but not infinite) experience/knowledge/understanding.

Tane seems kind of stern and not very talky. He also seems remarkably understanding of all his son’s difficulties. I’m very interested in seeing exactly what type of relationship he has with his son. Does Idem not know about Tane’s own experience of learning the trade because it’s a secret or just because Tane’s really bad at communication? I get the impression he doesn’t always know how to talk to his son.

There is definitely a thing… that happened and it is one of the things we have planned that I’m most looking forward to drawing and sharing!

For now, Hazeldella: Gossip Queen of Yowza Village.

For all we know the tradition started of the son carrying on the work of Guardian from the father simply because he was trained all his life for it and this kid will be fine, on the other hand it may have a genetic component too. All I can really say at this point is man, I donno what it is but somehow Hazeldella is kinda hot.
