Soma, I presume? Because someone needs to train Subira!
That would be better, though perhaps less entertaining, than if it was the would-be shopper from the previous page, striking up a casual conversation now that he had again established her existence. A brief respite before Yunda could drag him off with a “What? I don’t see any little girl and big cat! What I do see is a fine assortment of sling packs, however… one to suit the needs of any discriminating traveller, tradesman… or travelling tradesman! Right this way, sir!”
LOL. That would be in the director cut.
Or the Little Guardian’s Blooper Reel… I bet the two character actors that play Yunda and Undaya (as I will call the visiting shopper until he gets a name) are the sort who keep the cast in stitches with their unexpected appearances featuring improvised sales pitch chatter. :3
I can’t wait to see how Soma and Yunda interact.
EEEEEEE I can’t wait for some training c’mon let’s go fight monsters aaaa
Man… I constantly have to remind myself that her cat is a panther. Seeing it as all white really throws me off and makes me think of a mountain lion. I was generally surprised with that one colored splash page to see it as a panther. Is there an anatomical cue I am missing out on? I understand that there are some limitations with a strickly B&W comic. But would you elaborate on the decision to make kitty all white instead of shaded? I totally dig your stuff but am an art noob and curious. :3
Well, originally the concept was the spirit animals are glowing and actually a source of light so I kept shading to a minimum. Then that got nixed when we asked Sara to color the book cover. I supposed one day I will have to reconcile the two and settle on a style by the time we do the big collections.
I always imagine the cat as a panther but really, any big cat will do. Real world species equivalent isn’t as important for our purposes as the traits and characteristics embodied by the big cat. And as I become more comfortable with drawing the big ghost kitty, I’m relying less and less on reference photos so the species of the spirit animal will become even less of an issue.
I’m sorry if this caused any confusion.
Oh damn, I didn’t realize this comic was still new. XD Great work, can’t wait to see how this all works out. I love the style.
Out of curiosity, how old are Idem, and Subira at this point?
That would be twelve years old. Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed the read!
