Tane is kind of arrogant, isn’t he? Or is he just stuck in a small-town mindset and can’t imagine the dangers of the world at large? Something tells me this could be his downfall.
He’s annoyed with Soma for reasons we don’t fully understand yet – something to do with her having guardian powers but not being a guardian. That’s at least part of the reason he’s brushing her off. He’s also convinced that what she’s saying is impossible. I don’t think it’s so much that he’s unconcerned with the world as that he is simply refusing to believe her. It could certainly be his downfall, though.
And remember, this is the village that felt the need to swap the guardian’s child with the storekeeper’s because it wasn’t a job for a woman. Even if Tane is actually a nice guy, it’s still quite possible he’s influenced by the gender roles that dominate in his village. This would probably also explain why he was so surprised Soma had a spirit orb – he’d probably be aware of other villages having guardians, so there needs to be some reason for his confusion.
Unfortunately no, because that would have been AWESOME. Nope, it’s coincidence. I believe Ed drew the name from Egyptian mythology when he was plotting our story.
Ed’s seen Last Airbender but not Korra, yet. I however, am an avid fan of both and as I was eagerly awaiting the release of Korra, when I learned of the show’s villain’s name I worried there might be confusion or conflict among our readers. Then I realized this was silly and you all are awesome so lets make some comics.
Lee, I’ve spent my morning reading through the archives. Good, good stuff. Love the line art and the grayscale! Also love that you are a fan of Korra! Great show! You have my readership
Yes I’ve read Wapsi Square, mad respect for Paul Taylor! I take it as a compliment my work made you think of his.
Nope, have not spoiled anything for you. I believe you find out in the trailer for the first Korra episode what the baddie’s name is. So, safe to watch and safe to keep reading, spoiler free!
Glad you’re enjoying Little Guardians. We’re launching Chapter 3 on Monday, so you’ve joined us with perfect timing.
Methinks the lady needs to work on her communication skills.

That was intended to be a reply to Asterai – curse you, mouse!
Amon?! Are they in the Avatar universe?!

And you have my determination to continue delivering the best comics I can! Thanks for reading!
For some weird reason, Soma reminds me of Bud from Wapsi Square. Well, actually, a lot of the characters from earlyish Wapsi. I think it’s the eyes.
That being said, I love Little Guardians!
THAT being said, I haven’t seen Korra yet! DID YOU JUST SPOILER ME? CURSEEEEE YOUUUUUU…..

Also, You get +5 for the Kukuburi avatar. Ramon Perez is one of my absolute favorite comic artists.
