Ah, sand makes sense. Thank you for the clarification. As for the backgrounds, they’re usually really good. This was just a particular case where the sand is the same colour/shade as the magical spirit goo. Since the limits of magical awesome have not yet been explored, that just left a possibility of it being some kind of giant, spirit orb-based travel magic.
Not exactly. Tane picks up Elk and double backs for the village a bit. Some time has elapsed between the last two panels where Tane is riding and then spots the others in the horizon. I’ll admit it’s a little awkward.
Are they on a hill or on a cloud? I mean, hill makes more sense, but cloud would be an awesome outclassing of Tane’s spirit horse.
They are on a hill. I agree, a spirit cloud like the Monkey King would be awesome. Now i’m worried the backgrounds are too subtle.
It’s supposed to be a sandy, desert area. Maybe Soma sliding down the sand hill gives the impression she is floating?

Wait, they caught up to Tane on foot? >.>

OK, that bit wasn’t clear (and was part of why I thought they may have had some kind of magical cloud).
